Is the aiming any different from the first?

There is now a large reticule so you can blind fire more accurately, though not while hanging. You can also press R3 to zoom in rifles: the AK and M4 only zoom in a little, the FAL and Sniper have you looking through a scope. There is now a dedicated button for throwing grenades.

Other than that, no. But early enemies aren't as bulletproof as before (later ones are, because they're wearing armour).

Playing Uncharted now (figured I should finish it before I started 2) and the things you just listed there seem like fixes to everything I would've complained about.  Cool!

Is it any harder?  I started playing on "Hard" to see how bad it was, and haven't had any real trouble (maybe 1.5 hours in?).

The original game doesn't get hard until around Chapter 14. The sequel is roughly the same. But in Uncharted 2, everything after Chapter 20 is murderously difficult, more difficult than anything in Drake's Fortune. And that's on Normal.

Of course, on Crushing, the original is hard from the beginning. Not sure about the sequel, yet.

Did we play the same game?

Yes, it got harder than the rest of the game, but it wasn't actually hard. I'm at 21 on Crushing now, now that's where you can start talking about hard.
