i agree with both of yall on this. The wii is selling so well because of its price point and originality. But now MS and Sony have both lowered the price and are about to launch motion control. so the deciding factor for people when they go to buy the systems will be the games. And in order for any system to sell 3rd part support has to be there. Flagship franchises can only carry you so far. |
Except Nintendo still has the games, the games that made Wii sell so much are games like Wii Fit, Wii sports, Wii Play, Mario Kart and the like, and soon to be NSMB, Sony, MS, and the third parties can't compete with that, they may have motion controls and a lower price point, but as long as they can't compete with Nintendo, it won't matter how much third party support they have, they won't outsell Wii.
Halo, GTA, Call of Duty, etc. those won't carry a system to Wii level sales, those are the games that third parties put out, but those aren't the games that Sony and MS need.
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
