the thing is that most american teens dont hear about new IPs, and even sequels unless its heavily advertised, which is extremely dissapointing, as it shows that most american teen gamers are just those annoying little casual gamers who dont understand simple technological specs, nor have any regard or respect to the devolopers who made the game. Example would be an american teenager disliking a game, and would therefore call it gay, retarded, or anything that would describe themselves

You make it sound like a bad thing. I have many friends that are into CoD/Halo and have barely heard of any other games. That's because they're casual gamers that would rather do other things besides play video games, which is great.

As for the developer part, I personally don't think they owe them some kinda special respect. They showed their support to the devs when they gave them the $$$ to buy the game.

I'm definitely not surprised that Halo/CoD are so popular among casuals - they're easy to get into make great party games. When I had CoD5, plenty of friends would come over and we'd take turns playing it online. I sold it already and now were all waiting on MW2.
