The Martinet thing, the IGN thing, and now this.

Except, why would they announce anything right now? Why announce something in October, when you're gearing up for the holiday season, that won't be launching for the holidays?

That didn't stop them last year.

I suppose. But they broke their own rule of no too-early announcemnets last year, announcing a bunch of games which are only now starting to come out with S&P2 in Japan, due to their poor E3 reception.

This year they had a better E3 reception. They have NSMBW around the corner, and SMG2 probably first half next year. I think they can be more confident about the future, and not have to do something weird like announce a late 2010 game in late 2009.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
