As strange as that sounds, that's EXACTLY how I feel. I like to get to know someone through their posts, now I'm going to have a reason to automatically judge a person without necessarlly reading what they have to say just by looking at what they own and don't own. I hate this feature and I don't want to know what consoles you own.

I believe the point is that people make their signatures by their own choices: the only way to control these buttons is by removing games from one's collection. If someone posts "XBOX360 RULEZ" in their signature, there's no avoiding their proclivities anyway.
Unless you turn off signatures, like me.
