Hmm...200k seems a bit low. However, in one territory only, it is a pretty good figure.

I'd say maybe 425k in Japan is more likely, because it does have the FF brand name. The previous GC entry in the series sold 370k, with 187k first week on a userbase around ~2.75 million at the time.

Well, you also have to consider that those sales were under a more console-centric Japan. Now, despite the higher sales of Wii than GC, it most likely won't sell even that well due to the apparent shift from consoles to handhelds.

Yeah, I took all that into account, which is why I didn't quite venture into the 500k territory.

I hope that with its release near the holidays (compared to the GC game's release in August) and the Wii's ~8.35m userbase around the time the game comes out, it could do it.

Dragon Quest Swords sold 500k in Japan on the Wii as well, and the DQ series is usually 10% bigger than Final Fantasy. Since DQS and this FF game are both spin-offs, the same metric may apply. They may track similarly.

It is just a prediction though--- I only spent a few minutes coming up with the number.

Crystal Chronicles is a Spin-Off series opposed to a Spin-off game. It is more akin to Saga or Mana, except it kept the Final Fantasy name. Also the quality difference between the two is very apparent, as is the budget. There is also a larger userbase. I'd say Crystal Bearers has a chance of outselling Dragon Quest Swords. If not, it will at least match it.
