Kind like me bitching about Sony screwing over consumers by forcing them to adopt to a new media format in brd, or Nintendo screwing over consumers by selling ancient technology at $249 for the longest time. Gimme a break...it's capitalism, and if you don't like it, boycott with your dollars, and yes...sorry, but if you don't own an 360, you don't have a damn thing to complian about iwth this move...in fact, ps3 fans should be cheering it, in hopes of getting people to jump ship...since rrod couldn't do it. |
Seriously, who are you to say that we can't complain? I bought a 360, I have always known that HDD upgrades have been possible, that I can go out and get a 2GB Memory card if need be. Now almost 2 years later I find out that those options have been taken away from me and that those 3rd party devices sitting at Bestbuy are obsolete.
If I spent a lot of money on these peripherals in the last year or so, I would be pretty damn pissed to try and load up my Mass Effect save file for a Mass Effect 2 new game, only to find out it no longer works and that it wasn't my fault for it no longer doing so. I wouldn't say "Oh well, this is capitalism, let me just go out and buy the one they want me to now", hopping and skipping my way there with an "I don't care" attitude.
You want to bitch about Sony and their Bluray or Nintendo with outdated hardware, you go right on ahead. Although I would suggest doing it a different thread because they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. This is Microsoft's move we are discussing, I don't give a damn right now about what the other 2 are doing. There will always be a time and place for those discussions as well.
You want to spend your money on overpriced proprietary accessories with zero alternative options, you want to support a company taking your ability for choice away, which you had since 2005, go ahead, I don't care. Don't come in here though saying that I have no right to care because it is capitalism, because as a gamer I don't give a shit what it is, all I know is that I had my choices taken away. I possibly had my items, which I purchased long ago, no longer working now because Microsoft, 4 years later decided they just don't want me to be able to use them anymore.
In the past you could mod your HDD, but the risk was being banned from LIVE, something I could live with because I do not game online with my 360. This has been in effect as I said, for almost 4 years now. So if I did so 4 years ago, guess what? Without a thread like this informing me before hand, I could have lost 4 years worth of gaming.
Go ahead though, your choice. Go defend these companies instead of your fellow gamer.
I however know who's side I am on, regardless of the type of economy we live in.
It has nothing to do with MS, Sony or Nintendo. I would be pissed if anyone did this to me after so many years.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
