It says, just like with Amazon rankings, you're making too big of a deal out of little things and when the sales come out you will be disappointed with the PS3's sales (as I'm sure you have every other month it's been out). They'll be lucky to hit over 200k for October NPD sales and they'll also be able to hide the inevitable "suprising" lack of lasting effect the 40gb will have under the traditional large November-December holiday sales.
Sony Press Release: Sales were SPURRED by the lower priced 40gb Unit. Never mind the fact it's November and the system would have sold 400-500k no matter what this month.
