Like someone said earlier, the single biggest problem is that people cannot distinguish their opinion or theory from fact. Everyone wants to make their perception a fact. This isn't only on forums though, it happens more and more in life, sadly it is a human fault.
Personally, this forum is far better than most. It is hard to not get dragged into a flame thread even though you tell yourself repeatedly not to. I am working on it myself, but what I have started doing is if the thread starts to piss me off I typically close the tab I have open that has that thread, simple enough. Debates are fine but arguing with someone who has made opinion into cold hard fact is pointless.
