There are things i there that dual wield and kill me in one hit!

5-1 is not too bad, maybe one to two hard enemies.  Other than that 5-1 is pretty easy.  Also you can always level up, and upgrade weapons/shields.  That has worked for me when things were slightly rough, go level up and upgrade, then try again.
