There will still be 3D Mario games in the future. The series may start to be viewed more like Zelda though, as the cream of the "gamers games," instead of the flagship series. That's okay with me, because it's not like Nintendo ignores Zelda or treats it poorly.
I'm more excited about the next 2D Mario, since Nintendo won't be able to play it so safe forever. NSMBW is less safe than NSMBDS, and the next one will have to go crazy.
