The wand may not be a better "light gun" like the wii-mote it would be a better mouse sub. With a mouse you don't have to try to aim at the mouse pad. Wii-mote is like you have to aim at an invisible mouse pad in the direction of the IR bar. Most cases there is no adjustment of the area of the invisible pad nor where the center point is. Sony's big ball on the wand also would not require aiming thus a better mouse sub. Unlike the wii-mote no matter how the wand is turned the camera can still track the color ball. (If there is a off/on button on the wand's ball it could easily be used as if you pick up your mouse off the pad to recenter)
Now if Sony's wand can track 1:1 like they said it could be used as a light gun as well. We have to wait and see.
