Even if he played it, the context could be lost. If he played it after playing a modern Hd game SMb could seem quaint or outdated. Then audience of this generation has a different viewpoint. On the flipside, I didn't play Atari Pitfall until after playing countless SNES games. A classic can stand the test of time. I still play SMB and consider it to be one of the best of all time.
