| SciFiBoy said: the x factor is a sham, talentless n00bs audition in front of equally talentless judges to impress people who have nothing better to do but watch, tbh, they may aswell call it "look how shit music has become, one of these tossers will be xmas no1" with the subtitle "dont worry, most only make 1/2 albums then fuck off with your money" |
I think that may be a little harsh. I'm going to own up and admit that I do watch X factor if I'm not doing anything else on a saturday night. I consider myself to have decent taste in tv usually and often only watch shows with strong plots and character developments and I hate most reality tv. Although I can't stand the editing in the X-factors production and fully admit that many contestants are only put through because they make 'good tv' (sob stories ect) at least there are a few in this show with real talent. In fact I would argue that most of the final 12 are better singers than the vast majority of current chart acts and perhaps that speaks more about the state of modern music in general. Many winners of the show do tend to have a very short career but I think that is down to the public who often vote for the wrong reasons, i.e the one they like the most based on looks or 'entertainment' value as opposed to the best singers.
Wow, can't believe I'm actually debating the X-factor
.
