At the very least, what's wrong with doing it just to get DVD playback on the console, or free homebrew games, or a new menu system, or an alternative browser, or running DOSBox from the Wii, or listen to the radio, or a number of other cool things and applications? I don't have a beef with clean homebrewing. I'd be tempted to try it myself (die, region locks, die!) if I didn't have hundreds of dollars of downloaded games linked to my Wii. I'm just not willing to risk bricking 45 games along with my hardware.
