Genesis didn't sell in Japan (while it sold in the entire rest of the world outside of Japan) because Sega was originally an American company. This is well known in the history of videogames.

Its that way the Saturn and PS1 were neck and neck until FFVII's release? Is that why Sega had and still does rule the arcade market? You are absolutely right, Japanese gamers sure do despise Sega because of its American roots.

considering saturn sold 6 of its 10 million consoles to Japan, i don't see the bias.  The fact is that Saturn had the Japanese style games that they wanted, and for the most part genesis and dreamcast didn't. 

In fact saturn sold more than any other second place console ever in Japan, it even outsold the N64.  The only reason it died like it did was because developers moved to PS because it actually had a large userbase outside of Japan.
