It's so they can basically be palette swaps without any special abilities. If they had Peach, but she couldn't float, it would be even more lame.

It just makes me a sad panda...

They could've put Wario in there. Or Waluigi, or Birdo. Maybe some Koopa or Daisy. Donkey Kong? He shows up in all the 'Mario' sports- and Party games, so why not. Maybe even Yoshi. I mean, yeah the characters are riding Yoshis in the game, but that would only make it more awesome! :p

They could've *at least* made a Toadette. :s

No just no.. Wario and WaLuigi should NEVER be in a main Mario title. Birdo and Koopa are both enemies and DK? Seriously?

I think Nintendo chose the best option tbh.

Meh, I was just giving some examples. Besides, Birdo and Koopa aren't enemies in the party- and sports Mario titles, and in the Paper Mario games, Koopas are actually friendly allies. Well most of 'em anyway. Also, Mario and DK started off together in their very first game. It could happen. In fact, there are tons of games starring both Mario and DK. There's even a series of games called 'Mario & Donkey Kong', for crying out loud, it's not like I suggested they put Master Chief in a Mario platformer or something. :p

And besides, like I said, Toadette! That'd even cater to the oh so precious diversified casual crowd too! :) Honestly, why they included a clone of one character without changing anything whatsoever besides the color cheme is utterly beyond me. They could've at least given one of the Toads unique abilities, like Luigi compared to Mario.

Still, it's gonna be one helluva great game. :) But teh Toads!!1

You said it yourself, in the spin offs! I mean there will be koopa troopers in this game! DK has never been in a Mario platformer since Super Mario Bros. on NES and should never be.

Maybe I'm being a bit of a traditionalist but I feel that adding these kinds of characters would kinda ruin the integrity of the Mario franchise.. Nintendo handle Mario titles very carefully (Main Mario Platformers, not spin offs) and it's one of the reasons why it's lasted so many years..
