The PSP is roughly the same graphical abilities as the PS2/GameCube. There's no reason the next-gen DS shouldn't be more powerful than that.

PS2 yes, but gamecube no. The Gamecube and Xbox were more in competition, while the Dreamcast and PS2 on the other spectrum if you argue graphical capabilities. Even then, there are very few PSP games that best what the PS2 offers.

difference was minimal.
if u look at the polygon count and textures.
games like dissidia, crisis core and god of war are making a stand up.

Then if you look at Shading and Lighting the gamecube and Xbox were far ahead of the other two. Your point? The difference between the Dreamcast/PS2 and Xbox/Gamecube is minimal if you look at it from a generation scale, but within that scale there is quite a difference. For a Handheld this is even more substantial seeing as they don't really need or get much power from the start.
