Will some people in this thread shut up? Of course kids are going to say that things like Oreos and Mcdonalds are in their favorite brands, it doesn't make them all overweight or obese. I mean, what do you expect them to say? V8 Juice? Dole? Come on.

Nike, Addidas, Ferrari ffs, you know... something worthwhile or at least not something that will not get people fat. Also come on, over half the nation is obese, obviously there is a problem, can you shut up with denying problems and just see that there is a problem that starts off when people are young?

So wait, in a list of famous videogame producers, TV channels, and snacks, you really expect kids to list shoe or car brands? And by the way, before you go about spouting statistics, try looking them up. Please, over half the nation is obese? Don't give me that crap. I won't deny there is a problem, but kids would have listed McDonalds and oreos among their favorite brands whether you had taken this now, or decades ago. Kids will always list unhealthy stuff as their favorite things, and I'm just sick of everyone in this thread complaining because kids like Oreos and McDonalds. Nothing new.

So shut up and don't respond to me anymore if you don't have anything worthwhile to say.

I'm sorry elt me rephrase. Near 2/3rd the population is overweight, half of those is obese:

http://heartdisease.about.com/library/weekly/aa101402a.htm

Obviosuly there is a problem, you are the only who doesn't have anythign worthwhile to say here. Most of the people are fat and you are defending mcdonalds and oreos selling their shitty product to kids? I'm quite speechless.

I wonder if McD, oreos, doritos and other such brand are anywhere near as influential in Europe.

Thanks, now you actually have some statistics to back up your pointless arguments.

I never argued that obesity isn't a problem, just that people complaining because kids like McDonalds and Oreos is really pointless. Kids will always like eating the things that are worst for them the most. It's how kids are. Now, if you can find the part where I was defending the McDonalds and Oreos brands being sold to children, I'd love to see it. If not, you might want to try Hooked on Phonics to help you with reading comprehension. I hear it's real popular with the kids.

And I ask you again, do you think the European top 25 looks any different, causse I have a feeling it does. Magically Europeans don't have problems with being fat (I know they also walk a lot, but fat is  a problemwith food too). For instance do you know how fattenign the mac and cheese is? I had never even heard of mac and chese until I came to the US. There is a lot of reason to complain. As for you making fun of kids laughing at sporting or car comapnies, well that's what boys liek no? I guess I should have added in Barbie and some others for girls too. Somethign normal for children that won't get them fat, you know?

I have a feeling it does too, mainly due to the differences in culture. Europeans are different from Americans in many ways. However, I hope you're not using Europeans as a model of health, because even most people living in Europe would tell you that increasingly, that is not the case. More information here (and that article is just from 2006). European obesity rates are increasing at such an alarming rate that now Americans get to laugh at someone else for a change. I know how fattening mac and cheese is, although I don't see why that pertains to this argument. Maybe this list does consist of a lot of junk food, but I'm sure kids would list junk foods as their favorite brands no matter what the time period. Hell, I'd rather have Oreos and fast food (not McDonalds though) over fruits and vegetables any day. Do I eat like that? No. It's just your favorite things.

I mentioned mac and cheese because that's one of kids' favorite brands. Since this is a list of brandss, not foods, I am frankly surprised why a child would list food as aything close to favorite. What happened to toys and games? Surely there are more than 5-6 companies making those things.  It's jsut sad that kids know food more than play and games.

As for the European one, I'm wondering whether they mean obese or overweight with that report. Somehow I doubt they mean the actual besety.
