So ... you're saying that you were just explaining why you disagree with a statement, regardless of whether the Pope (or indeed anyone) actually said it?

Look, all I want at this point is whether or not you still claim the Pope said that statement you argued against, and this last post of yours seems to indicate that you don't even CARE, so that implies that the answer is "no".

To answer your good question (why didn't you ask like that before?!), I don't claim (read carefully) that the Pope said that, I replied highstarway101 just in case the Pope actually said that (because it was highstarway101, not me, who put that paraphrased quote), but, whether he said that or not, I disagree with that statement AND I disagree with papacy.

I think that is clear in my posts, I'm not explaining something new and other users know that. I'm sorry that you didn't understand.

First, I want to clear something up:  you've said several times now that the others have not said anything like what I have been saying, which you claim is due to the fact that they understood you and I did not.  In fact, it was primarily because they were participating in a different discussion!  They were talking about different subject matter; HWS101's post (and your reply) were not relevant IIRC.  

Now, when you say something like this:  
"Some people (both Christians and atheists/agnostics) understand this very well while others seem to keep smashing their heads against a wall, by saying that is compatible. Thank you, Pope, for one more of your stellar contributions to Christianity."

Your post gives every appearance of assuming that the Pope indeed made the claim that you now say you only argued against without attributing to the Pope, instead of merely saying "If he said XXX it would be stupid because etc.".  Otherwise, even granting that your disagreements with the papacy may cause you to take random potshots at the Pope in your posts, there would be no explanation for saying "one MORE (sarcasm)".  Assuming that something is true implies that you are taking the position that it is true; and nowhere do you even hint that you are only responding to HWS101's paraphrase without agreeing that it is correct.  

But hey, let's forget all that.  Again, highwaystar101 made no such claim.  Your "it's OK to believe IN evolution" strawman came from out of nowhere; HWS101's paraphrase makes no such statement, nor does it imply that.  

So, although I'm happy to know that you don't claim the Pope said that, I'm still upset that you say HWS101 said the Pope said that.
