How come I haven't heard of this before? I'm British and I like intelligent comedy...

1. People who can't think logically, or refuse to.
2. Lobbyists of all political colours.
3. Books by Dan Brown
4. Soft A-level subjects
5. Spiders

It's all a reference to the book 1984.

I think maybe room 101 was a few years before your time. But either way I can suggest watching the later 7 or 8 series with Paul Merton. The basic concept of the show is that Paul Merton interviews someone about the top five things they think the world would be better off without. They basically debate about certain things in the world and then decide if they are good or bad. It ran for what must have been a dozen series, it was really good.

They've had some really good guests on, Spike Milligan, Sir Patrick Moore, Sir Alan Sugar, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Fry, Jeremy Clarkson, Boris Johnson, Harry Hill, Will Self, sir Michael Gambon. But the best two episodes are the two with Ian Hislop, as you know Merton and Hislop have real chemistry together and they are essentially a double act by default, those two shows are hilarious.
