Benefit's very from user to user. For me, the PSPGo offers better storage options. Attracts less attention than the 3000 due to it's non-game system like appearance [you don't want attention here]. Simply perfect for portable multimedia considering size, shape and weights. More comfort due to higher placed shoulder buttons.
Although, this may not be the case for some one else. Which is why it is an OPTION and you're not forced to chose it if you want to play PSP games.
