The week of Oct 3rd the PS3 beat 360 worldwide by 83,727. Clearly the PS3 slim and price cut hype isn't what it was in September. It's dying down. At a rate of 83,727 per week, it would take the PS3 89 weeks to overtake the 360. So basically Mid 2011. Assuming that the PS3 can continue their strong performance in Europe/Others and Japan while MS just sits by idly and allows it to happen. We'll have to see if they can keep it up. You'd have to assume that Sony would pick up the pace even more to claim 2nd by the end of 2010. Another PS3 slim price cut won't happen for awhile and at this point further exclusive software isn't going to make a big impact on hardware sales. Except maybe FFXIII and Dragon Quest X (since the Japanese love those series). We're so far into the generation that I'd be surprised if you think what's available now isn't enough to entice you. At this stage, each big name title will cause a small spike but that's about it.

It's a shame that some people don't understand the system selling power of Gran Turismo.

Why would you buy a PS3 for Gran Turismo NOW? The PS3 is not short on software anymore. Chances are if you're not convinced that you should get a PS3 now or soon, you're waiting for another price drop or you just don't want one period. Or maybe you already own a console (360 or Wii) and just don't have the time and money for another game collection. The time issue being a concern for gamers who play games more casually (and when I say "casual player", I don't mean the Wii grannies. I mean the guys who play Madden, NBA2K, CoD4, GTA4, etc. on a casual basis.  They just want something that has EA/2K Sports, GTA and shooters and PS360 delivers those. They don't care about missing exclusives that much) and the money issue is a concern during these tough economic times. It's too late for people to buy a console for just one game. We're past that stage now. New software doesn't drive crap anymore. How could the current software library not convince you yet?
