@ Atma

The best answer to your question is: About the piracy thing.

DS lots of casual gamers

PSP lots of hardcore gamers

@ Saicho

You need a DS flashcarts or something like that to be able to play pirated games.

I don't know if this will help but I will post some pirated numbers for the other games.

Total downloads on one torrent site.

God of War: Chains of Olympus - 94,154
Patapon - 112,183
Ratchet & Clank - Size Matters - 197,113
Crush - 48,959
LOCO ROCO - 163,904
Wipeout Pulse - 116,965
Castlevania X Chronicles - 102,354
Metal Gear Solid - Portable Ops (Not Including Plus) - 231,054
Burnout Dominator - 269,486

That is just for one site so imagine if you add it up with the other sites.

The numbers you posted don't mean much if you don't have DS numbers to compare with. As it is now, we don't know if DS games are in 50K or 500K range. Also, people can easily download DS ROMs directly without BT since they are usually much smaller games.

On the same thread on Neogaf, people also pointed out piracy is pretty bad for PS1, PS2, XBox and even Wii. However, I hardly see anyone use that as a reason for bad game sales.

Will this help?

Windows 22106
PSP 6709
PS 2 6056
XBox 1692
Nintendo DS 1559
Wii 1333
PS X 1223
Other platforms 1218
ROMS / Retro 1000
XBox 360 645
Dreamcast 595
Game fixes/patches 556
Windows - Kids Games 449
GameCube 429
Video Demonstrations 308
Mobile phones 271
Mac 222
Linux 114
Sega Saturn 86
Palm, PocketPC & IPAQ 81

I saw this in the thread too but that doesn't mean much either. More torrents do not mean more downloads. For example, on platform A, it has 1 torrent being downloaded 1000 times and platform B has 10 torrents being downloaded 50 times each.  Based on the number of torrents, platform B is 10 times more pirated than platform A. However, it is certainly not the case.

Also, as I mentioned above, "people can easily download DS ROMs directly without BT since they are usually much smaller games." BT is only part of piracy. With the ease of access to DS ROMs directly, I suspect there would be a lot more piracy of DS games not on BT than PSP games.

Last, I also don't get the claim that PSP is more pirated because "it does not require additional hardware to pirate". I actually think the steps to put games on the cart is much simpler than the seps to hack a PSP.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
