FF 13 and GT5 also didn't have their entire graphics engine built already and assets from a previous game on the same platform to use. They also didn't have the gameplay fundamentals already done.

It's easier to make sequels. case in point: Gears 2, Halo ODST, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

ND were able to make U1 and U2 in less time...how about if I word it like that?
