R&D for a Gamecube 2 would've been more expensive? Hmm... has this person taken a look at the money Nintendo has pumped into R&D prior to the release of the Wii and after it? R&D for newer, less popular technology is far more expensive than R&D for existing, highly available technology.

The worst-case scenario is just hilarious, since the author essentially discredits his own conclusion earlier in his editorial. "Nintendo has always produced its consoles in a way that makes them quickly profitable for the company (as opposed to Sony or Microsoft), so it's not like a GameCube 2 would have been a drag on the bottom line, but it wouldn't have rocketed Nintendo's shares on the market either."
