Whats with this new trend? Lets bash Sony just because were bored? Opinions shout out as facts?
To the OP: Nice opinion there, keep it. What if Sony do manages? I think its really hard, but this gen is a total travesty from previous ones. You see, and this is really arguable, what mattered this gen is PRICE! My point is quite simple. Nintendo practicaly won this gen(mostly, not solely, mind you) on the Wii's price. The 'innovation' factor may already died, as before the price cut the sales were declining, not like a free fall, but they were...lets just put it because of the lack of software too. While you can argue about that in relation to Wii, Sony may as well be said that lost because of it. MS can simply trow money away, wich it really did, with the RROD problems, exclusives that arent really exclusives and so on.
These past weeks we see Sony back to top (I am not counting the DSi here....its something that is a annormality in itself, and while I can understand why people may buy that thing, its really something I would never buy, its not for my tastes) and then we have the Sony fanboys trying to get back some fire in thenselves, because the beating the other ones were delivereing for the past months were brutal, because this gen, wich is all about price, is also all about SALES NUMBERS! The more the better. Forget about quality, that doenst really matters this gen.
So, when I see this kind of tread, wich is quite amuzing if you see with free eyes (free in the sense that I dont really care about this fanboyish trend of speaking opinions as facts) I see just how sad this gen come to be.
Let me sumarize it: Nintendo practically won this gen on price (IMO). Other factor are there too, but its late here and I am lazy, so I wont go too far tonight. Sony lost because of the same reason, on price and other factors, well know to those who researchs well enough. MS is around trowing money away because it can, and will do it more if it can help them to keep the lead from Sony. Only the fanboys use definitives. Thats a FACT right there for ya. This gen isnt over, as some loves to say. Will MS or Sony reach Nintendo numbers? Not likely. Will Sony reach and, god forsakes!, surpass MS? Its possible, dificult, but possible. Too many things can happen, things that the companies cannot control. Look at last year. Sony beaten MS all year, but the downturn of the global economy, paired with a price cut (remember my main point? this gen is all about price!) killed wathever countger attack Sony may have tried after that.
Taking that as a new view on things, why not stop this nonsense and see what happens? I know it will fall on deaf ears, but oh well, it really doesnt matters does it? IF it happens it happens, if not, I quote Squall Leonhart from FFVIII here.
