Aligned launches?

If you put it from PS3 launch, i think 360 is still in the lead.

Nope, if they were aligned, the PS3 sold fatser than the 360. Still doesn't prove anything, except, Sony has a stronger brand name, but they are still losing right now to the 360.

no you misunderstand what carl said...

since the PS3 launched...

PS3: 25,029,266

360: 27,083,933

since the PS3 has been available it has been outsold by over 2 million.

I see. Didn't catch that, thanks...

The formulation they are suggesting is not aligned launches, though.  It's measuring sales of both consoles from the moment the later console is released, which isn't the same thing.  Prices are higher at the beginning (especially for PS3) and there are likely supply constraints as well.  So they have PS3 at its most expensive and supply constrained vs 360 at its cheapest and least supply constrained.

True that if we look at it like kowenicki wants to, the numbers favor 360.  While aligned launches favors PS3.  It's just that with aligned launches PS3 is ahead by far more than the gap they show above (counting numbers for both consoles since PS3 release).

Anyway, now the price drops have hit and let's watch what happens during the holidays.
