To be fair this has been happening for sometime in other places. I remember HMV had downstairs a whole wall dedicated to Blu-Ray, with these giant posters and stand out advertising boards. Roll on 6 months and it has been moved upstairs to a corner and has next to no advertising there.
The reality is Blu-Ray is not new anymore, it has been out for almost 4 years. The players are under a ton now and PS3 is cheaper. The problem is the price of Blu-Rays. After the format war Blu-Ray did not drop much at all in price. You walk into a shop and see a film you like and sometimes that film can be £3 on dvd and then £16.99 on Blu-Ray. As much as people will preach it the harsh fact is that the Blu-Ray version is not worth paying basically an extra £14 for. Dvd's are very cheap these days.
So until Blu-Ray's come down in price to be on par with say Cd's i.e £8.99 for a new one people will ignore it. HMV are doing a buy one get one free promotion again.
