I've read a few pages on this, and came to a conclusion:

There are those who are here just to diss on Sony, and since Trenton's comment is a very good oportunity to do it (since the Slim launch reasons to bash SOny got scarce), those guys are on fire.

There are also those who simply wanto to set fire on where there should be none.

And those who understood the meaning of the comment.

Its financial/economical. Sony takes more finacial/economical risks than Nintendo. Its a FACT. The only risk Nintendo took this gen was to change the control scheme on Wii. That was the innovation. The mass market aproach was nothing new. Look at the price. Nintendo was, will, will always be making a profit from the begining. Old tech, used more inteligently, easy to mass produce, with a extremely afordable price, in comparison with the competition. Lauch some much loved game franchises/games that use the said innovation with it to boost and you have Wii launch. Win for Nintendo. Not even them expected such success. NO ONE expected it. Want another proof that Nintendo wont risk finacialy? The last Zelda game was a GC game, and Wii was just about to launch. Why not launch as a completely Wii game and sell huge numbers? Because they didnt believe Wii would be the astounding success it was. Only after that they did a port to Wii.

People is over reacting to a comment that makes much sense, when taken from the point that was tryied to be made. People whos point that Sony doesnt even deserve to be in the game industry should re-think such statement, because if NIntendo got its way back there, there wouldnt be a gaming industry right now. Nintendo saved the gaming industry in the 80's to almost kill it in the 90's. Be thankfull that Sony got in. Competition brough us where we stand now. Nintendo innovate with Wii, but where are its games? Shovelware after shovelware, the sales, the most potent weapon fanboys use to back the Wii were declining, the price point wasnt as strong as before. Good thing Nintendo is coming out with new games (wich are new games on their old, familiar, very well known francises...no new IP, so wheres the RISK in there???).

So if you wanna take things out of contest, all righ, great chance given by Trenton. He even acknowlegde Nintendo and MS prowes and good points, spining it like only PR pros can do, but he did say it. This one was long enough, so whatever! Not coming back here with a 30 feet long pole.
