No Wii didn't help Sony or MS, because Sony and MS have only hurt themselves, Nintendo has helped gaming, most of those games you consider well remembered aren't even well known outside of core gamers, Wii games are known by everyone.  A lot of those devs and Publishers have ended up merging this gen in order to survive.  And you yourself just admitted how its helped gaming, more penetration and more growth and the prof.its are there as well if other companies learn from Nintendo

FIRST BOLDED.

The thing is, us "core gamers" are the industry as a whole whether you like it or not. We have been buying games, we will continue buying games in the future. This is the industry as a whole and what helps the industry as a whole are GTA, MGS, Halo, Uncharted, GT, Gears, LBP, Bioshock, Call of Duty, WoW, Assassins Creed, Dragon Age, Demons Souls, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell Conviction.....as you see ive listed many multi million selling games in a variety of genres produced and developed by multiple studios an dpublished by multiple publishers....thus, the overarching industry to the market which has built and will continue to support said inudtsry in an unwavoring way.

SECOND BOLDED.

Which is what i fear as a gamer that the wii doesnt cater too, pecisely.

The wii games that ar eknown by "everyone" as you say are.....Wii sports, Wii fit, Wii sports resort and Mario Galaxy, zelda and metroid.

I still fail to see how this has saved the industry as a whole when the majority of the new penetration and Wii software sales help nintendo moreso than anyone.

If anything, your argument about companies "learning" from nintendo eventually cut out the vast majority of small dev's, or dilute other genres because if the Wii had its way in the market devs would be forced into making games which are bought by the increasingly penetrated demographic which the Wii has established, thus turning the industry into a one trick pony.
