I picked the Wii, believe it or not, was because the PS3 was $600 at the time. Virtual console, ability to play Gamecube games, and Brawl were the number one reasons why I picked the Wii. I was also a self-proclaimed Nintendo fan. Although it is collecting dust at the moment, every time I play it, I have fun (Well, sometimes). I really wish that most Wii games weren't redundant. They're good, but I find myself having to repeat various segments, which gets boring. Other than that, its a pretty good system. It has a set of great games, but also a noticable amount of Shovelware, which really prevents it from shining like they should.
As for the DS, I love it. I was initially against it because it looked like a gimmick, but as soon as New Super Mario Bros. came out, I reconsidered, and I don't regret any of it. The DS is probably my most played gaming Peripheral. I play it in bed, I play it regularly. The good aspects the DS has is its games. There's a series of excellent games. You will never run out of games to play, whether you are "Hardcore" or "Casual". There's game for everyone, and for everyone to like. The only downside is how weak the DS Lites are. My second one is barely hanging by a thread. Other than that, the DS gets my vote for best gaming peripheral this gen. Not even the consoles can match that.

This is the true definition of owning.
