It'll definitely pass the PS2. It had a great time (PS2 is still the favourite of mine) but the DS will surpass it easily around Christmas 2010, though most likely around February or March 2011.

Think about it this way, purely from a mathematical standpoint. The PS2 is sitting at around 135m units shipped. Quite a hefty sum. The DS is right around 111.07m according to the chart. Current weekly sales are between 350k and 400k, so between 1.4m and 1.6m each month. Current difference between the two is about 24 million units. Let's average it out and say 1.5m units per month. At that rate, the PS2 will be surpassed in about 16 months, not accounting for massive Christmas sales. Sixteen months would put it at January 2011, with February or March the months they surpass it.

Food for thought.
