However I fail to understand why Metacritic is keeping the score at 89.

And since their algorithm is secret and proprietary, it just sucks.

Not all reviews actually count towards the average. 

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but to them, reviews come in their teirs:

• teir 3 -- don't fucking matter.  These are from new sites that are still establishing themselves and random blogs and they just don't getp osted.,
• teir 2 -- posted, but not counted.  These are from the bigger sites so they get posted but aren't actually popular enough for them to go into the average score.
• teir 1 -- posted and counted.  These are from the bigger sites that constantly post so many reviews per month.

Ya totally agreed.

But since we have no idea what those tier 1, 2, 3 sites are, I can't help but feel frustrated why this game is not getting the AAA rating that it thoroughly deserves, especially since a huge majority of reviewers are rating it above 90%
