PS2 first launched in March 2000 in Japan, so it was out longer than the 360 was at this time. Plus the 360 followed a system that didn't have a huge following, like the PS1.
So that isn't a proper comparison. This entire gen isn't comparable to the last two gens. I've tried, and they don't fit together.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
