I agree. Lucas' talent for squandering great ideas is disheartening at best. Plus, that explanation doesn't even make sense: before Anakin Skywalker came around, the Light Side WAS mostly on top.
If I were in the Star Wars universe, I'd probably be a Jedi hater myself. Yes, current members go around doing good deeds. But their arrogance and stupidity has bred generations of Dark Jedi who go on murderous rampages. Almost every major conflict in the galaxy came about because the Jedi aren't able to keep their house in order! Why is Avellone the only one who really explores that reality?
