I seriously would like this settled concretely.  I don't see this stated on the mafia wiki I'm looking at.  And I was never informed of any such rule when I was mafia in 5A, and it was never mentioned that no particular killer was stipulated.  

Also we need to know if the Godfather can "execute" a nightkill (in Gnizmo's version), or if he never participates in the nightkill (either version).   

In my games, only one mafia does the actual killing--the one that sends me the PM or the one specified in the PM. 

This is to avoid roles like Jailkeeper and Alien from choosing just one of the mafia and stopping every night kill as well as Watcher who could theoretically learn the identities of everyone in the mafia in one night otherwise.

As for the godfather role, that needs to never get into a game.  It's a stupid role.

Well, I admit that seems to be the best explanation for the description of the Watcher, but on the other hand it does nerf the Tracker somewhat IMO.  If we wanted the Watcher could be interpreted to pick a mafia at random.  

I would have thought that the Alien wouldn't stop it unless there was only one mafia left -- his buddies still got to go do the killin'.  I guess that makes the Alien a more powerful role.  

But considering the existence of the Watcher role and the drastic consequences of its literally interpreted ability, I'll go along with your interpretation.  But someone better tell the mafia in the next game!
