OT: Consider this:
Sony wants to combat the thumping it's getting from the DSi. Decides to make a slim version of its PSP. Adopts the mindset to make it download-only in the middle of the game to make it sleeker and meaner.
Realizes their fans will buy anything and praise it, they up the price tag - expect a flood of new cash because you can't buy games in stores - nor can you trade them in - and expect the new system to be a success.
They didn't learn anything - I mean anything from the PS3. It's the games, Sony! It's always been the games! And if people aren't buying the system already, figure out why you need to do to win them over. Keep the UMD format - lower the price - and release a digidownload device next gen.
