Personally, I think if Natal fails and the 360 continues on it's current sales path (this year being it's peak year) The PS3 does have at least a chance of overtaking the 360. I don't think it's likely at this moment but I don't think it'll matter in the end anyway. The 360 and PS3 will both be fairly close by the end of the generation but the PS3 will be considered the failure of the generation because of the huge loses in both market share and cash.
