I think this is actually terrible news. I thought the failure rate was at 30-35% a LONG time ago. If it's STILL 33%, that means it was even higher before newer models were out there bringing the failure rate down.
I shudder to think how bad it was in the first production runs. I guess I got luckier than I thought -- or maybe not, since I still have to listen to my vacuum cleaner of a disc drive.
