Well, I think PS3beats360 is way off.. It's sad to think of how well ODST sold when Uncharted 2 will have to fight tooth and nail to get half the sales :{
That being said, it could potentially sell very well. The reviews came out early, a lot more people are going to get super psyched because of that.
The multiplayer demo is out. its 12 am in the Americas on a week day and about 7000 people were on last time I checked, that's not great, but most people dont even use PSN. When you turn your ps3 on, if its connected to the internet, it should pop up "UNCHARTED 2 AMONG THIEVES FREE BETA DEMO" Like Microsoft does, that would surely put more sales into the game..
The advertisement has started, pre-orders are on the rise (+65k in americas last week) Lets just assume each week from now on has pre-orders increase by about 30% due to the demo, and the reviews (not unreasonable.)
You get this week with 84.5k pre-orders
Next week with about 100k pre orders
and the final week with maybe 120k preorders.
that puts uncharted 2 at about 484,000 preorders in americas alone, so sales will be around 600-700k first week in the americas.
Considering that the UK bought uncharted 2 way more than America did (accounting for 1.5 of 2.6m sales) and that advertising in the UK seems to be significantly higher, with a higher install base for the PS3, you would expect around 600-700k pre orders for uncharted 2 there.
with a weekly sales of about 900k.
This puts uncharted 2 at around 1.3-1.4m first week ignoring japan, and lets give them 100k first week to put it at a pinacal of 1.5m first week.
What most of you in your predictions fail to understand is that uncharted is a game with an appeal that reaches far outside of "first week" sales. It's a game you just have to have, but its a single player only game. This really hurts its first week sales. Halo games are not selling for the story, neither are games like call of duty. Uncharted sits in the realm of fallout 3. (however clearly a better game, and more attractive to more players.)
Uncharted 2 will be an odd game. It will release like a core game, but it will continue to sell like a casual game, akin to first party wii games that do not have massive openings but go on to sell millions.
What will be interesting is to see just how well the legs go. Sony bundling uncharted 1 was a big success for them. They put the first game into a lot of hands, the sales might be VERY shocking.
my predictions are obviously on the high end, but i fail to see how less than half the people who bought uncharted are not crawling out of their skins to get uncharted 2. You people are way way underestimating this game. It could be significantly higher than what its showing up as right now. First week sales could even eclipse 1.5m ww.
Lifetime, absolutely, positively no less than 5m. The ps3 is on fire and it will propel this game. It has infinite attractiveness. Uncharted 2 has something for every type of gamer. Its a masterpiece.
You're going to be placing this game next to Ocarina of time.
