why do people say Wii is a gimmick

because some people refuse to believe in anything thats different. for example my roommate doesn't like it simply because he doesn't want to move when he plays video games. not he of course is ignoring the fact that a lot of games you don't really have to move at all, you just move the controller around with your hand but you don't have to stand up and dance around and stuff. and it also ignores the fact that some of those games where you do have to move around are much more fun than most traditional style games, the best example being wii sports.

so i'd say its a combination of hardcore gamers already having it in their heads that nintendo is not good cuz they focus on fun games (which for some reason people refer to as kiddy) rather than just violent games, they think only good graphics can make good games, and because of what i said above. these 3 things make "hardcore" gamers who mostly only play sports, racing, and violent games think the wii is stupid and bad without giving it a chance and so therefore it is obviously terrible in their minds but its popular so this makes it a gimmick and a fad that will disolve as soon as everyone else starts thinking like they do. which won't ever happen, and that is why it is NOT a gimmick or a fad.
