Then consider this challenge, if you will.
Put the game's difficulty slider all the way to the right (the hardest difficulty) and then play as a thief/mage/assasin build.

If you can win just by using one button, then I will consider your point valid ;)

You could say the same for any game. Setting difficulty to the highest and playing a more skill build will require more care and consideration. Hell, you can't beat Dynasty Warriors on the hardest difficult using Zhen Ji (or another fast, not so powerful character), but this doesn't make DW suddenly a deep game and not a button masher.

@ Slimebeast

Again, SO 4 didn't have a demo, and if you could just mash RT against normal enemies, you're character sucked hard. One thing about the game is that it was so easy!

I'm confused. SO4 was easy and you think that'sa good thing?

My mistake. here is what I said.

1. SO 4 did not  have a demo.

2. In Oblivion, if you couldn't beat normal enemies just hitting RT, you're character sucked hard. The game was very easy.

Yes Oblivion was too easy on the default difficulty, but it was fairly hard if you put difficulty on max.

Mankar Camoran and his children were almost impossible to defeat on max difficulty even with a good character. Same when you had to flee from the Mythic Dawn.
