Wii userbase has already a 5 million "Zelda userbase", and these 5 millions of gamers ONLY are already enough to justify the creation of some epic adventure games... when there are 10 millions of Halo buyers, a console is "hardcore", but when there are 5 millions of Zelda buyers, it is not "hardcore at all"? What do you want me to say? They're lame, and they spit on the face of Nintendo's core userbase...

...

I doubt it's that easy: look at Okami. That's a high-quality, very Zelda-like, 60 hours+ epic adventure game. It wasn't exactly bought in droves by the "Zelda userbase".

Were the potential buyers thrown off by the peculiar art style? Maybe. Were its sales dampened by it being a re-release of a PS2 game? Most probably. But still, the ratio between its sales and the potential market are probably not encouraging for somone wanting to venture in the same direction. You heard the developers lamenting so many times that the Nintendo core crowd is a tough one to crack, or in lame whining terms "they only buy Nintendo games".
