Nationalistic pride in Japanese created software. No philosphy necessary. The Japanese also don't typically care for American made games that cater to the Japanese like Forza and Need for Speed since they're made by EA and Microsoft, but they will buy something very American like Lost Planet or Resident Evil 5 since it's made by Capcom.
