@bolded-Is this really an impressive feature? I've never played the original game, but this seems like an awfully meh upgrade if the sound of water, wind, your footsteps and some lily pads in the ponds are the major reasons to get excited about this. The DS can handle full 3D graphics, low PS2 quality 2D graphics and full CG cutscenes. Why would upgrades be of any concern on a Pokemon game like simplistic sound effects when this is something we've had for the longest time on the little dual screened beast?

The sound effects of movement and environmental enhancements add a sense of polish and give the game a more nature look (make it seem more realistic; that you are outside and you see more detail; D/P/Pt did not have that kind of detail) and sound.

Are we really arguing the merits of the realistic look of Pokemon here? Also while I understand the current gen Pokemon games didn't feature this, I still don't see the big hoopla of getting excited for it just because Gamefreak is lazy in this particular department. We're arguing over simplistic features other games have had for years on similar or even more outdated hardware. All I'm saying is now that Pokemon is only 3 years behind other DS offerings graphically instead of 10, it's no reason to get excited over it, especially since those features have nothing to do with the strengths of the franchise and only enhance it's weaknesses by mentioning them.
