And yes, the "handhelds" can compete with the "living-room consoles". I think that the DS took the PS2 spot in Japan quite clearly. She became the main hardware to work on and support in that country.

The Gameboy wasn't a NES, the Game Gear wasn't a Genesis, and the PSP and DS aren't a PS3 and a Wii. They are NOT the same market, although they're all a part of the same industry. That's like saying the PS3 and Wii sell to the same people, but they don't.

Just to be deliberately awkward the Game Gear was a Master System, a console.
