Many people here are way too optimistic about PS3s sales. To close the gap to 5 million with the Xbox 360 it needs to outsell it at a weekly average of 170k units for the remainder of the year, which seems next to impossible.
PS3 will probably outsell Xbox 360 by less than 50k next week and I can't see it increase the gap again by any significant amount until the real holiday starts. By then it will probably need to outsell it by double that amount if not more to get the gap down to 5 million at the end of the year. All in all this seems highly unlikely to me.
