I am el cheapo - I paid like $25 for my Koss surround unit used - the DVD player works, but that's an understatement - bought a 5.1 system from Wallyworld for like $75 - the main unit is downstairs, but the speakers are still here - and a Bose 301 that I use as my woofer - however, I have a Cerwin Vega 12" that is my real woofer, but I need to find a box for it. I was using my Bose 301s as my front speakers but my old unit couldn't push them. My new unit, maybe.
I have probably spent $250 on my setup - and it does get compliments. I would love to do DTS eventually ...
