The Wii sales had fallen long before PS3 slim rumours (realistic ones... not some random 2007 form post).
Wii sales fell from the unnatural high Mario Kart and Wii Fit had given... They were the last huge games until WSR. The Wii survived last Christmas and ~2-3 months of 2009 because of the previous pent up demand... In March/April when Wii sales fell it had been almost 1 year since MKWiiFit, with little to constitute as a mass market game because Animal Crossing and Wii Music didn't cut it.
